Just like homes need a spring cleaning, so does your compressed air system.

Air compressors are essential to your daily operations, which makes routine maintenance a must. There are many different types of maintenance you may do to your compressed air systems. You may do daily checks such as draining the tank of water or testing for air leaks. However, major maintenance checks are necessary to avoid the need for emergency repairs in the future.

Spring Air Compressor Maintenance Checklist:

  1. Filter Check
Springtime in New York means extra allergens and pollen that may not be present the rest of the year. Due to this, your filters will be working overtime. Clogged filters can create larger problems in the future, requiring emergency service or costly repairs.
  2. Temperature Moderation
We suggest logging your temperatures regularly to ensure your equipment is not overheating. This may seem excessive, however there are many problems caused by overheating.
Here on Long Island, we sometimes see the springtime temperatures fluctuate between 40 degrees and 80 degrees. Unpredictable temperatures can cause your air compressor to overheat, leading to costly downtime. We recommend monitoring and adjusting the ventilation as needed.
  3. Check Hoses & Vents
Just like the deep cleaning of your home in springtime, it is important to check the cleanliness of your hoses and intake vents. Dusty, dirty, or clogged vents will do considerable damage to your compressor.
Once your compressor is dirt and dust-free, check out the hoses. Any signs of cracks or corrosions should result in immediate replacement.
  4. Service Your Dryers
Springtime often means an increase in humidity in New York. Air compressors are likely to be affected by this. There is an increased amount of condensation due to the humidity, which increases the possibility of water entering your compressed air system. Maintaining and servicing your dryers can counteract this.
